Boarded veterinary behaviorists (ACVB) number under a hundred in clinical practice, making this the scarcest boarded specialty a marketer will ever target. Around them: a ring of GPs with behavior interest, a large non-veterinary trainer economy, and a caseload crisis, because behavior problems remain the leading reason young dogs are surrendered or euthanized, and the pandemic puppy cohort made it worse.

The commercial center of gravity is pharmaceutical: behavior medications (fluoxetine, trazodone, the situational-anxiety products like Sileo) are prescribed overwhelmingly by GPs, not behaviorists. Every behavior-drug franchise runs the same play: boarded specialists as KOLs and protocol authors, GP ring for volume. Supplements, calming products, and the tele-behavior consult services follow the identical structure.

Practical targeting

Don't build a campaign on the boarded list alone; it's a KOL roster, not a market. The working cut is small animal GPs weighted toward high-puppy-volume practices, plus the behaviorists as a named handful.
