Veterinary PIMS and other software on chain clinic websites
Practice management software (PIMS) is rarely visible from a veterinary clinic's website. A scan of 1,961 corporate-chain clinic websites on 3 October 2026 matched published vendor signatures on the 1,755 it could fetch, and the only practice-software client portal found often enough to publish was ezyVet's, on 29 of those websites (1.7%) (Vettica website technology scan, 3 October 2026). What the websites do show is the client-facing layer around the PIMS: payment and financing, online pharmacy, online booking, client apps, reviews and website platforms. This page reports what the scan detected in each category, how concentrated each is by chain and by shared site template, and what the figures can and cannot tell you.
Our data
Contribution: first-party data, derived analysis, downloadable dataset
- Collected: Every clinic website host listed in the 27-chain location crawl, scanned on 3 October 2026 (home page plus one further linked page, the likeliest booking or portal link found (on the clinic's site or a vendor's; on 1,052 websites a Facebook page), where robots rules allowed; no JavaScript run). Published vendor signatures (scripts, iframes, vendor links, structured data) matched on fetched pages; a detection is evidence the vendor is present, a non-detection is unknown. Aggregated 3 October 2026.
- Published: 57 aggregate figures; each group rests on at least 5 source records and smaller groups are withheld.
- Compared with: clinic websites the scan fetched (3 October 2026) from Vettica website technology scan; the chain's clinic websites the scan fetched (3 October 2026) from Vettica website technology scan.
- Method: the exact queries, row counts and thresholds are in the methodology.
- Computed: 45 derived figures (top-3 and top-5 totals and remaining counts) from the published figures. Each is a dataset row with its formula, inputs and expression, so it can be recomputed.
- Tracked: in our source-fact ledger since 4 October 2026; no changes recorded yet.
- Sources: the source manifest (JSON) lists the 23 sources behind the figures (clinic websites scanned), each with its public URL, retrieval date, status and the reason any is left out. A card's or table's Source link goes to that source's own page.
- Reproduce it: download the data as CSV or JSON (102 rows; variables: Scan outcome; Chains in the scan; Second-page outcome; Vendor detections by category; Any detection by category; Online-booking vendor detected, by chain; Online-pharmacy vendor detected, by chain; Payment or financing vendor detected, by chain; Derived figure; license CC BY 4.0).
What the scan reached
The scan listed 1,961 corporate-chain clinic websites. The chains behind them are profiled on the Veterinary chain profiles and locations page. It fetched 1,755 of the websites (89.5%), was blocked on 184 (9.4%), and hit an error on 22 (1.1%) (Vettica website technology scan, 3 October 2026). Vendor matching ran only on fetched pages, so every detection figure below is a count of fetched websites. A non-detection means the scan could not confirm a vendor, not that none is present.
Which vendors appear on fetched clinic websites
Across the 1,755 fetched websites, the vendor detected on the most websites is Birdeye, a reviews platform, on 793, but those come from just 2 chains and 5 template-adjusted units: a few shared site templates carry it, not hundreds of separate decisions. The vendors spread across the most chains are WordPress, a website platform, on 527 fetched websites across 17 chains, and CareCredit, a payment and financing vendor, on 639 across 13 chains (Vettica website technology scan, 3 October 2026).
The long tail is more varied. Scratchpay (payment and financing) appeared on 224 fetched websites across 11 chains, the PetDesk client app on 197 across 7 chains, and the online pharmacies Vetsource and Covetrus/VetsFirstChoice on 114 and 76 fetched websites respectively, each spread across 10 chains. Booking and portal vendors trail behind: AllyDVM on 43 fetched websites, the ezyVet practice-software client portal on 29, PetDesk booking on 19, ezyVet booking on 18, and Covetrus booking on 12. Website platforms beyond WordPress are rare, with Wix on 9 fetched websites and Squarespace on 7.
Two patterns stand out. First, among the client-facing tools (payment, pharmacy, booking and client apps), payment and financing is the most broadly distributed by chain count: CareCredit was detected at 13 and Scratchpay at 11 of the 23 chains whose clinic websites the scan covered. Second, template-adjusted units, which count each group of websites sharing one site template once, can run far below raw website counts: Birdeye's 793 websites are 5 units and CareCredit's 639 are 275, while WordPress (443 units against 527 websites) is mostly installed site by site. Where the gap is large, one template decision puts a vendor on dozens or hundreds of clinic websites at once, so raw website counts overstate how many separate adoption decisions there were.
Online booking is concentrated in a few chains
An online-booking vendor was detected at 11 chains, 7 of them on at least 5 websites (the table's threshold), and the spread is wide. Destination Pet leads at 14 of 28 fetched websites (50%), while the three largest adopters by raw count, National Veterinary Associates (38 of 881, 4.3%), Destination Pet and AmeriVet Veterinary Partners (9 of 198, 4.5%), combine to 61 websites. The top 5 chains by booking detections combine to 75 websites, leaving just 2 of the 7 listed chains outside the top 5 with 11 websites between them (derived from the Vettica website technology scan, 3 October 2026).
The share column tells a different story from the raw counts. National Veterinary Associates contributes the most booking detections in absolute terms but on only 4.3% of its 881 fetched websites, while Destination Pet reaches half its (much smaller) fetched set. No chain shows a booking vendor on most of its fetched websites; even the leader has none detected on half of them, though booking widgets loaded only by JavaScript would not be seen.
Chains with an online-booking vendor detected
| Rank | Name | Websites | Fetched websites | Share (%) |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| 1 | National Veterinary Associates | 38 websites | 881 fetched websites | 4.3% |
| 2 | Destination Pet | 14 websites | 28 fetched websites | 50% |

| 6 | Veterinary Practice Partners | 6 websites | 170 fetched websites | 3.5% |
| 7 | Ethos Veterinary Health | 5 websites | 64 fetched websites | 7.8% |
Online pharmacy adoption splits into two tiers
The top 3 chains by pharmacy detections combine to 131 websites and the top 5 to 159, with 2 of the 7 listed chains outside the top 5 holding 17 websites between them (derived from the Vettica website technology scan, 3 October 2026). Compared with booking, pharmacy is more clearly tiered: two chains, VetEvolve (94%) and United Veterinary Care (71.7%), show an online-pharmacy vendor on most of their fetched websites, which suggests a chain-level choice, while at every other listed chain it appears on 36.7% of fetched websites or fewer.

|---|---|---|---|---|
| 1 | VetEvolve | 47 websites | 50 fetched websites | 94% |
| 2 | National Veterinary Associates | 46 websites | 881 fetched websites | 5.2% |
| 3 | United Veterinary Care | 38 websites | 53 fetched websites | 71.7% |

Payment and financing is the most widespread client-facing category
Concentration by raw count is strong here too. The top 3 chains combine to 474 websites with a payment or financing vendor detected, and the top 5 to 575, leaving 5 of the 10 listed chains outside the top 5 with 93 websites between them (derived from the Vettica website technology scan, 3 October 2026). Set against booking, where no chain went above 50% of its fetched websites, a payment or financing vendor shows on a majority of fetched websites at 6 of the 10 listed chains, from AmeriVet Veterinary Partners (91.4%) to Lakefield Veterinary Group (65.5%), but on only about 1 in 5 at National Veterinary Associates (20%) and Ethos Veterinary Health (20.3%).

What these figures support for people verifying practices
For software vendors sizing corporate-chain accounts, and for distributors, recruiters and compliance teams checking what a chain clinic offers online, the data points to three practical moves.
Check the template before the clinic. Template reuse is heavy (CareCredit's 639 detected websites resolve to 275 template-adjusted units, Birdeye's 793 to 5), so a vendor seen on one clinic's website is often on the other websites that share its template. That is not the same as chain-wide: a payment or financing vendor was detected on 91.4% of AmeriVet Veterinary Partners' fetched websites but on 20% of National Veterinary Associates'. Check a chain's share in the tables above before treating one clinic as typical of its chain.
Treat booking and pharmacy as chain-specific questions. Booking vendors were detected at 11 chains and pharmacy vendors at 11, but only 7 of each reach the 5-website threshold, and the two pharmacy leaders sit at 94% and 71.7% of fetched websites. If your task depends on whether a practice offers online booking or an online pharmacy, the chain's identity tells you more than the overall figures do.
Do not read a clinic's PIMS from its website. The scan's only published practice-software signals are ezyVet's client portal (29 fetched websites) and ezyVet booking (18); booking and pharmacy tools from vendors that also sell a PIMS, such as Covetrus, do not show which PIMS a clinic runs. A website without a portal link says nothing about the clinic's PIMS; for that question, ask the practice or the chain.
Limits of this data
The scan covers corporate-chain clinic websites listed in a 27-chain location crawl, observed on 3 October 2026 (see the Veterinary chain locations page); 23 of those chains have clinic websites in the scan. It does not cover independent practices, and it says nothing about what software runs inside a clinic; these are website detections, not practice-management installations or market share. The Veterinary Data Glossary defines terms like PIMS and consolidators.
A detection means a vendor's signature (script, iframe, vendor link or structured data) matched on a fetched page. A non-detection is unknown: the vendor may be present behind a login, on a page the scan did not fetch, or on one of the 184 blocked or 22 errored websites. The scan fetched each home page and tried one further page linked from it, the link it judged most likely to lead to booking or a client portal. That second page was fetched for 321 of the 1,755 websites and blocked by robots rules on 1,378; on 1,052 of those the link picked was the clinic's Facebook page, not a booking page. So most detections rest on the home page alone. It ran no JavaScript, so client-side-only embeds can go undetected.
Each figure's unit is fetched websites, and shares are shares of fetched websites, not of the chain's full footprint or of the market. The snapshot is a single date; nothing here describes growth, churn or change over time. Template-adjusted units count once each group of websites the scan matched to one shared set-up (shared page assets, a shared tag-manager container or a shared CMS theme), and count every other website as its own unit; read them as a rough indicator of how many separate site set-ups carry a vendor, not as a count of deployments.
How to use the dataset
The CSV and JSON files hold 102 rows: one row per aggregate group (each published figure), plus one row per derived figure with its formula and inputs (57 observed, 45 derived). The rows behind each group (the collected source rows) are not published.
Columns: id (row id (observed rows r01..., derived figures d01...)), kind (observed or derived), entity, attribute, scenario, value, number (the figure as a plain number), unit, scope (the scope, or a derived figure's input row ids), input_price_scope, scenario_scope, formula (a derived figure's formula in words), expression (its arithmetic over the input figures), source_owner, source_url, observed_at, fixture.
Variables: Scan outcome; Chains in the scan; Second-page outcome; Vendor detections by category; Any detection by category; Online-booking vendor detected, by chain; Online-pharmacy vendor detected, by chain; Payment or financing vendor detected, by chain; Derived figure. Data as of 3 October 2026. License: CC BY 4.0.
Each observed row's source_url is its public source (the page the data came from) or, for a figure built from several sources, the section of the source manifest that lists them; derived rows list their input rows in scope.
To use it, filter attribute to the figure you need, sort by number, and cite the row's source_owner and observed_at. Recompute any derived row from its expression and the input rows its scope lists.
